Tony Davies has been working in theatre since 1978.
Starting out at Swansea Grand Theatre under the
directorship of John Chilvers MBE, he went on to
work in London in the early 1980’s on various plays
and musicals in the West End. With a lot of experience
in all technical disciplines, Tony returned to Swansea
in 1987 to take up the post of sound engineer at the
Grand Theatre. He continued to work freelance when
he could, touring the UK and working on concerts with
artistes such as Michael Ball, Shan Cothi and the theatre
musical ensemble “Westenders” whos Musical Director
is the renowned Jae Alexander.
In 2001, Tony became Head of Sound at Swansea
Grand with the opening of its new Arts Wing. After
many years unofficially designing sound, this now
became part of his job and he has designed from
scratch the sound together for several touring plays
by Ian Dickens Productions,such as The Ghost Train,
Wife Begins At 40, Educating Rita” and others.
Recently, Tony has continued to regularly design for
in-house productions, as well as pantomimes for
UK Productions.
